If you have Eduroam from your home university, it should work here too. Both University of Hasselt and LUCA School of Arts have Eduroam. Most cafés will have internet access if you ask for the password. Hotels obviously too.
Banks and currency Exchange
Bank and exchange offices are located in the city centre close to the hotels. The currency of Belgium is the Euro. Since most shops solely accept euros, we recommend that you exchange to the local currency. Most shops also accept major credit cards.

In Belgium, local emergencies are organised under the free 100 number, which can be called for any accident or emergency to connect you to an operator who will arrange assistance and contact the emergency services. It works similar to 112 except that you need a SIM if you call via mobile.

Language
English is the official language of the conference. No simultaneous translation will be provided.
Information desk
Registration and information desks are located in both of the conference venues in Genk and Hasselt.
Voltage
In Belgium the power sockets are of type E. This socket also works with plug C and with plug F if it has an additional pinhole. The standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.
Postal services
Both in Hasselt and in Genk, multiple post offices are located. The nearest post office to the main conference venue is an eight-minute walk (located at Maastrichterstraat 49, 3500 Hasselt, Belgium). Please contact the information desk for directions.
Car rental
Cars can be rented from local or international companies such as Hertz and Europcar. Your hotel receptionist will assist you if you wish to rent a car.
Shopping
Shops in Hasselt and Genk are usually open from Monday to Saturday, from 10.00h – 18.00h. Supermarkets are often open from 08.00h – 20.00h on weekdays and are normally closed on Sundays. Most shops accept all major credit cards.
