• Visit the exhibition in the Fashion Museum: Forever Young.
• Visit the Museum of Jenever and have a taste of this splendid spirit typical to Hasselt.
• Enjoy a Zen moment in the largest Japanese Garden of Europe, only a short walk from the city centre.
• Discover graffiti and street art in Hasselt with our Street Art Route: on Sunday 25th of August (from 13h30 – 16h30), Visit Hasselt organizes the ‘Street Art Walk XL Summer‘.
• When in Hasselt you have to taste Jenever, but also speculaas a typical biscuit. Discover these specialties with the All-in flavour Route.
• On Saturday 25th of August, you can visit Boulev’Art: an art- and book market with live music and dance.
• Take a break from the City and visit the Abbey site of Herkenrode, wander around in nature en refill your batteries.
• Visit Zin in Zomer, a literary event of 14 days in Hasselt, Genk and Sint-Truiden.
• Hasselt is known for its numerous shops, outstanding restaurants and superb (cocktail)bars.
• Rent a bike (check out Mobit or Bluebike) and go on a bike ride: on Wednesday 22nd of August, Fietsbar organises a bike ride of 20 km, starting at Minderbroedersstraat 54 Hasselt at 20h00.
• On Saturday 25th of August, you can visit Merwt: a farmer’s market (near Hasselt Station), focussing on local and ecological food products.

Wander around in ‘de Dorpstraat’ with its more alternative shops. Have a quick healthy lunch in the Zuppa bar of at Marloo’s, eat like a real Italian in Pocomatto, Osteria Moretti or La Fontanella. Do you prefer a fancy dinner? Make reservations at Ogst or Rosch. Have a break in one of the many coffee shops in the city. And at night you can enjoy yourself while sitting on a nice terrace, sipping a cocktail (Hasselt is very proud to host thé best cocktailbar of Belgium!) or taste some really good wines and of course discover all the local beers. But of course Hasselt has many more options, just walk around and discover the city.

Pukkelpop

Pukkelpop is a three-day festival organised by Leopoldsburg’s Humanistische Jongeren (“Young Humanists”) which began in 1985. Pukkelpop started life as a small, local music event before becoming an outdoor alternative festival. Pukkelpop has now become one of Europe’s greatest music events. The festival is a complete experience, and one which has been promoting community relationships for over 30 years.

This year, Kendrick Lamar – the multitalented American rapper/songwriter from Compton, USA – will be headlining Pukkelpop. So if you’re arriving earlier, be sure to check out Pukkelpop before the conference starts! Click here for the full line-up.
