Conference venues

Genk (20 – 21 August 2018)

The first days – with tutorials, workshops and the Doctoral Colloquium – will take place in Genk, in the LUCA School of Arts (Campus C-Mine), FabLab Genk and De Andere Markt. The city of Genk is an important partner in this conference and its industrial heritage also offers many exciting venues.

Most of the tutorials, workshops and the Doctoral Colloquium will take place in the key venues of the LUCA School of Arts. LUCA School of Arts is situated at C-mine: a former mining site which has been rebuilt into a hotspot for creative industry, culture and tourism.

Other workshops will take place at FabLab Genk. FabLab Genk is a making, experimenting, and research design space, with a focus on the synergy between digital and physical design methods. A laser cutter, 3D printers, a milling machine, vinyl cutter and other tools are available at the FabLab.

Other workshops will take place at De Andere Markt, a Living Lab in which thinking about and working with the future of work in the city and broader society is central, together with the community. The Lab is situated in the middle of the neighbourhood Winterslag.

Hasselt (22 – 24 August 2018)

The main conference will be held at Hasselt University’s headquarters. Since the Faculty of Architecture at University of Hasselt is the main organiser of this conference, the main location is the old prison of Hasselt, which has been recently rebuilt in a teaching and conference centre of Hasselt University.
