Sara Heitlinger; Marcus Foth; Rachel Clarke; Carl DiSalvo; Ann Light; Laura Forlano

Tuesday 21 August 2018
full day
LUCA School of Arts, Campus C-mine 5, Genk

This workshop holds a serie of aims. It tries to bring together PD researchers and practitioners at the intersections of sustainable smart cities, urban informatics, urban interaction design, IoT, and notions of the more-than-human. Via case studies it wants to try to shed a light on critical, theoretical, and methodological approaches to inform future work while creating awareness of emerging more-than-human perspectives. Finally, the workshop will lead into an edited book on the subject.

The workshop goals relate to the specific PDC 2018 conference themes such as Infrastructures and complex challenges and Domain-specific applications (e.g. city-making and datafication).

This workshop is intended for researchers & practitioners working on decentring the human in design from a theoretical, critical, legal, ethical perspective, as well as methodological contributions, e.g. object-oriented ontology, non-human ethnographies, speculative design, ANT.
